Proof of concept: Smart phone can capture nystagmus

The vestibular and ocular motor research team at Johns Hopkins published a proof-of-concept paper showing that it is feasible for a smartphone app to record eye movements that are interpretable by a clinician.  The paper also reported that test subjects were receptive to using this app.  If these results can be replicated, then it may open new opportunities for diagnosing and managing people suffering from dizziness, and particularly from benign paroxysmal positional vertigo.
